ELLIES'S BLOG ENTRY - ADJUSTING TO MY NEW HOME!
16 November 2007.
Hiya,
My name is Ellie and I am dictating this blog with the help of my good friend Cheryl. We met in October of 2006 when I was sent to live with her and boy did it take some time for me to adjust to my new home! I don't know why but I just didn't find it easy to settle down even though I adored my new family. I got really scared when I was left alone and was convinced they wouldn't return home to me.
But each time they left they came back just like they promised so after a few months I began to relax and settle in. I even enjoy being outdoors now: stretching out in the sunshine or curling up in the cool shade on my comfy bed feeling the breeze in my fur. But I can't deny that my favourite place is still on Cheryl's bed: she tries to be patient with me even though I tend to stretch out and take up all the workable space. I even hog the pillows: I can understand why humans love them so much!
But even though I was happy in my new home I still felt like I wanted the company of another dog (no offence Cheryl!) so they arranged for another GAP dog to share our home. Her name is Anchor (she said she preferred to keep her "stage name": what a primadogga!) Boy was she shy at first! And she had real trouble walking on the wooden floors even though I was tearing around on them. She kept thinking she was going to slip over though I assured her she wouldn't. But we soon became friends even though her personality is pretty different to mine.
She always tries to play with MY toys even though I have patiently explained to her that only I can play with them. So when she nicks them, well, I just have to chase her to get them back and sometimes we will run around and chase each other 'till we are both panting like mad. It is so much fun! Cheryl is pretty happy when we do that because we don't ask for a walk cause we are too stuffed!
Of course now we both jump up on the bed and Cheryl has to shoo us off cause there isn't enough room for all of us if she wants to sleep too (but we sneak up when she isn't using the bed!) So all in all we are very happy together. I have some company (and someone to play with) when they go out and they get to enjoy a couple of unique individuals who have enriched their lives and taught them the true meaning of tolerance!
My picture is above: I am the smiley one at the front: Anchor is the shy one at the back.
