ENTERING YOUR GREYHOUND INTO GAP
GAP - South Australia is a non profit organisation and committed to ensuring that greyhounds are placed in suitable homes.
Guidelines for Trainers/Owners
| It is essential that GAP is informed of any medication conditions and injuries the greyhound has (past and present). | |
| Dogs are to be presented bathed, wormed, and flee free prior to entering into GAP. | |
| All registrations, de-sexing certificates, and vaccinations to accompany the placement paperwork. | |
| Greyhounds will be subject to testing prior to acceptance into the program. This testing is quick and ensures that the dog will be suitable for adoption. | |
| Please ring a qualified GAP assessor for an assessment appointment. All assessors will give you the relevant forms once the dog has passed. You may then complete the form, send and fax or drop it into the GRSA or GAP offices with a $60 placement fee and all relevant forms. Post To: Greyhound Adoption Program Greyhound Racing SA PO Box 2352 Regency Park SA 5942 OR Fax: (08) 8268 2870 |
|
| When a foster home becomes available, we will ring you with details. | |
| You will be required to deliver the greyhound to us at either Angle Park Greyhound Track or Gawler Greyhound Track. |

*NOTE* There are currently a limited number of foster homes available therefore placement into GAP may take a few months, however, we are committed to working hard to ensure placement as soon as possible, therefore your patience would be greatly appreciated.
**We do prefer the dogs to have a "let down" time of at least 3 weeks before placement into a foster home. Please do NOT race your dog within this time. If your dog is racing when you are notified that he/she will be placed, please let us know.
"Let Down" times will help the dog settle into its new environment and allow the foster carers to manage it properly with other pets.
*** IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is essential that ALL medical conditions be listed on the application form... failure to do so may result in the future requirement that ALL dogs be presented to a GAP approved Veterinarian for a complete check prior to acceptance into the program.
