EVIE'S BLOG ENTRY - MY TRIP TO CANBERRA AND MY NEW HOME!

21 December 2007.

Hi I thought i would drop you a line to let you know I had a fab flight to canberra.

I was a little nervous on my arrival, but my new owners were waiting eagerly for me. I started wagging even while being wheeled in the cage through the freight terminal as I could see Alice waiting for me at the counter. After a quick smooch the first order of business was to thoroughly sniff gardens at the fright terminal then have that pee I had been holding for an hour.

Next, I was issued with a very strange command, something about jumping into the rear of the station wagon, which seemed a bit silly if Alice was there to lift my gentle 30kg frame in. Oh well, we compromised and I put my front half in and Alice lifted my petite rear in.

The drive home was smooth and scenic, I sat up and took it all in. On arrival at my new home we did the reverse command procedure to get out of the station wagon. Once in the house and yard I spent about 3 hours thoroughly sniffing every square metre before having a little rest on my brand new hammock.

Each day I get to walk around the pond near our house, sometimes twice a day. I am sleeping outside and my new owners seem very excited when they get home to find the yard exactly as it was when they left for work in the morning. I dont really understand why humans get so excited about such things!

In my first week we went out for brunch, and I met Elle a standard poodle golden retreaver cross who was the same age as me. I also met Patrick (human) who was 2 years old too. Elle and I had a quick run around and once then established I was boss dog the the rest of the morning was grand, with me relaxing in the shade while my owners enjoyed a gourmet breakfast lunch combo.

This week we had a visit from Henry the black cocker spaniel (10 years), princess Maggie the shelty (10 years) and Toby the Brittany spaniel (1 year). They slept over and Toby and I got on like a house on fire. There was lots of play wrestling with gentle tugging of the ears, sparring over my hammock and running at full speed through the garden in the rain. Yes it does rain in Canberra, not much though.

I am having a wonderful time here in Canberra, the best part is our family hugs on the floor on the mat in front of the TV. I have attached some photos....
