GAP in the Christmas Pageant!

GAP SA was lucky again to feature in this year's Credit Union Christmas Pageant on November 10th.
Our greys looked great strutting their stuff along the parade route to huge crowds and is a great way to show them off to lots of people who may be not be familiar with the breed.
GAP SA will again be partnering with the pageant next year to appear with the puppy float so just another thing to love about the holiday period!

Welcome Katalin Orosz to GAP SA!

We are thrilled to announce that Katalin Orosz started this week in the GAP SA Manager position. Katalin brings with her a great deal of management experience and we wish her all the best in the role.

Q:    What were you doing prior to GAP SA?
A:
I have a supply chain and operations management background, and have always worked for large manufacturing companies. Recently I made a conscious decision to look for a role in a not-for-profit environment hopefully working for animals and here I am now! I am very excited to embark on my journey with GAP!

Q:    What is involved in your role?
A:    My team and I look after the Greyhound Adoption Program and I need to make sure we have the right resources and processes in place to make our program efficient. Basically to ensure that our dogs find a new family within the shortest possible time.

Q:    What are you most looking forward to about the role?
A:
Learning about our dogs of course! I am also eager to meet our foster carers and trainers, familiarize myself with the racing industry, and start working with our team to find new ways to attract more foster carers that play a vital role in preparing our greyhounds to become pets.

Q:    What are a few hobbies or interests outside of work?
A:
I am a yoga enthusiast, yoga is my way to find my balance and to keep healthy physically and mentally. I also like going on long walks or hiking tours, and I love travelling to new places whenever I can!

Fresh Pet Food Co supplying GAP SA

Fresh Pet Food Co are the proud suppliers of fresh pet food for our GAP SA greyhounds for the duration of their foster care and the first week of their adoption and they are based right here in SA!

Fresh Pet Food Co use Kangaroo which is a 100% natural lean meat that is sustainably and ethically sourced. Nutritionally, kangaroo meat is superior to farmed meats because they are not farmed and are truly free roaming, open range animals that graze on natural vegetation. So what you get is a clean meat that’s free from antibiotics, added growth hormones and added chemicals.

Kangaroo is high in protein, low in fat and a good source of vitamins and minerals, including thiamine and riboflavin. It’s also a particularly good source of the minerals iron and zinc and heart-friendly Omega-3’s.

Fresh Pet Food Co kangaroo products are available in the fresh pet food section of major supermarkets nationally and you can find out more about them at their website freshpetfoodco.com.au

We thank them for their generous support!

A 'greyt' day at our 21st Birthday Party!

October 20th saw GAP SA host our 21st Birthday Party here at Angle Park and we celebrated with a host of doggy stalls, cake, kids activities and of course, a very successful Foster and Adoption Day!

Below are just some of the pictures taken on the day and more can always be found on our Facebook page.

Do you have a small dog?

Do you or someone you know have a small dog that could benefit from some socialisation and company during the day?
We are looking for small dogs to help with our green collar and first point assessments.
Your dog will be well looked after with plenty of pats and treats throughout the day. They will assist with  green collar assessments for dogs that have been living with foster carers or for greyhounds entering the program.
During assessments, greyhounds will be muzzled, on a leash and handled by an experienced assessor and handlers.  All dogs will be walked around together in a secure testing area for approximately 5-10 mins to assess the greyhound’s reaction to the small dog.  If the greyhound is reacting well we will allow them to approach and sniff the small dog.
We are looking for dogs that are generally social and happy meeting other dogs and ones that walk well on a lead.  Sessions are rostered at least a month in advance and are generally around two to four hours in length.
If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be able to help out with on either a regular or ad hoc basis, without any obligation, we would love to hear from you.
Please contact GAP SA on 8243 7124 for further details.
