What we have noticed:
From his foster carer:
Hi, I’m Willie Wonka, yes, like the chocolate guy, but I’m more interested in cheese. I answer well to ‘Willie’. I have been in my first foster home for a few months, but they cannot keep me long term, so I am looking for my forever home. I’m a 3.5‑year‑old, retired athlete who has mastered one of life’s great challenges: climbing stairs. I’m also a leisure specialist, I’m happy to sleep all day (and night). I do like my people around and will also get up if something interesting is happening but otherwise I am happy to just to lie about. I can also stay home alone if I have a doggie buddy.
Q: Any naughty moments we should know about?
…I allegedly located a sealed bag of kibble and engineered a midnight feast.Q: What about friends?
My best mate is a Smooth Collie. We hang out in my foster home, I let him be the top dog as I am not fussed. I would like a home with another dog for support and company. I get on well with other dogs.Q: How are you around humans?
I’m very shy at first and scared of strangers but once I know you’re my kind of human, I absolutely love my people. My ideal home would not have too many new people coming and going and you will need to be patient with me while I settle in but once I do be prepared as I’m loving and affectionate. After dinner every night, I officially clock in for cuddle duty. If you stop patting me too soon, I’ll give you a gentle paw tap reminder. I am told I am lovely to pat, soft and shiny.Q: Do you enjoy walks?
Yes! My favourite is my routine nighttime walk. I get happily excited in anticipation. I walk really well on the leash. Sometimes, on a walk I get a bit nervous and stop in my tracks if I see someone, I am not sure about, other times I am not fussed. My foster mum has solved the problem if I stop by doing the ‘happy dance’ which distracts me, so I forget why I was worried and continue the walk. My ideal home will need to have a bit of patience and understanding with me on this one, but I am getting better as I am exposed to new things.Q: Any other good-to-know traits?
My tail is @ 60cm long, and once I am settled it wags constantly. I have no sleep startle and I am housetrained. I even ignore the chickens in the backyard of my foster home. I am used to glass doors and slippery concrete floors. Once I am out of my shell, I’m joyful, and I’m happy to just be with you. I’m the kind of dog who fits into your life quietly, sweetly, with a few comedic moments.
